Tips on organising a great burlesque hens party!
Organising a great burlesque hens party can be an exciting and memorable experience for the bride-to-be and friends.
I love hosting people for a fun celebration. But there are definitely some tips and tricks on running a smooth night out, and making it as fun and memorable as it can be.
Take these tips from someone that has had many many groups come through the studio doors.
1.Plan ahead of time and communicate
With a burlesque theme, I thin1.k communicating with the guests and the bride to be about what the event is and getting them both interested and excited. I have seen so many examples where guests aren’t aware of the burlesque class, and may be a bit apprehensive and body conscious. Giving guests a heads up about what they can expect on the day - even down to what they can wear, bring and what the space may be like. This can also be a time to do a really boring thing - and check if there are any injuries the burlesque instructor may need to be aware of!
2. Don’t overcommit yourself
I think the biggest problem I encounter is hens groups that have overcommitted themselves. They might have a brunch, followed by a wine tour, followed by a class, then dinner and drinks. PHEW!
If you aren’t currently partying like a 21 year old, it’s probably wildly optimistic to expect that you will have this level of energy across the day.
If you have lots of guests coming and going and you are planning a full day and night of activities, your best bet is to make sure you give yourself some rest points in between. Maybe schedule some ‘down time’ back at your home/hotel/B&B to have a cuppa and put your feet up. Otherwise I’ve often found the bride and guests are too popped by the time the dancing comes around! Or too knoackered to enjoy the night activities.
3.Don’t start drinking too early
It kind of makes sense that you don’t run before you can walk. Your night will fizzle out pretty quickly if you have started with a bottomless brunch, followed by a wine tour and then dinner and drinks.
Pace yourself during the day.
And from a very boring safety point of view, I often suggest not drinking until after your burlesque function…. bend and snapping in 4 inch heels after three cocktails is a recipe for disaster!
Lastly, don't forget to arrange for delicious food across the day, and sprinkle in some prizes or party favours that might add to your burlesque theme.
